John was the plenary speaker at Mediation North's autumn conference in November this year.

Funders of mediation services want fewer destructive disputes; mediators want the parties to understand the conflict more clearly and feel more empowered to generate and enact creative responses. The plenary session explored the links between how mediators work with their clients, how they reflect on and develop their practice, and how mediation services can improve their overall service.

John also gave hints about how to monitor and evaluate mediation service delivery, with the aim of showing how, through their everyday practice, mediators can support a culture of learning and also provide vital evidence of impact for their service.
