Moira and Andrew move on from Framework

Both are moving on to exciting ventures, so it is with a mix of sadness and celebration that we report that two of our members, after 19 and 11 years’ involvement in the network, left Framework in October.

Read more and catch up on their plans:

Framework seeks new members

Framework members have come and gone during our 24 years’ history, and our membership has always kept between four and seven members. This range suits our collaborative, independent-yet-collective approach to supporting each other in our freelance organisational development work. We have now four members, based across the UK in Oxford, York and Fife.

With Moira and Andrew’s recent departure, the four of us are inviting anyone who thinks they might become a Framework member to consider contacting us. We are not advertising for any positions, nor is there an application form: Framework is a non-legal identity, and we each manage our own businesses. If you like us and we like you then there’s a conversation to be had. More details about our joining process can be found here.

Globally-responsible organisations

Framework member John Gray is developing a new inquiry, exploring organisational relevance in the light of predicted climate and societal changes in the 21st century. His blog article, Our Global Context, gives more information – follow this link to read the article in full and keep in touch with or join the inquiry.

Mediation and climate change

Katherine Stoessel discusses an article promoting the use of mediation at Copenhagen and beyond. Read the article here.

What does “partnership” really mean?

John Gray recently facilitated a Partnership Improvement conference for statutory and voluntary organisations in rural North Yorkshire. Participants were introduced to WWF’s Partnership Tool box, co-authored by WWF staff and Framework’s Bruce Britton.

The Toolbox defines partnership as “a relationship that exhibits full mutual support for the identity and all aspects of the work and the well-being of each organisation. It is holistic and comprehensive with no limits – in principle – as to what the relationship would embrace.”

Framework fully endorses this definition, and we believe the word ‘partnership’ is much overused in describing relationships between organisations. The Ryedale conference explored how genuine organisational partnerships differ from funding relationships and other forms of developmental alliances.
